About

Minister of Justice and Public Safety Mandate:

”Work with your colleague the Minister of Health and Wellness to ensure Island first responders have the resources to be prepared for, respond to, and recover from incidents they encounter in the course of their duties.”

Public Safety Calls is a new mental health initiative available to Island public safety professionals.

Recognizing the unique mental toll public safety personnel face when attending emergency situations, the Province identified an opportunity to partner with, the University of Regina and the Canadian Institute for Public Safety Research and Treatment (CIPSRT) to offer Public Safety Calls. The program is developed and delivered by trained clinicians and researchers with public safety personnel in mind from the University’s clinical research unit, PSPNET.

PSPNET uses Internet-delivered Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (ICBT), as well as course work, that provides participants the skills and knowledge to help manage the mental health challenges they develop as an outcome of their occupation.

This program will be accessible to public safety personnel in PEI through the PSPNET website
